Yesterday, Kris and myself were lucky enough to get our first taste of HorrorconUK at Magna Science Centre in Sheffield – we felt a bit out of step initially, but quickly found comfort amongst traders in the hall. There were an overwhelming amount of creators present to showcase their wares. It was fun to network a little, and discover some talent that might otherwise be lost to us in the void of the internet.
With that in mind, we’d like to share just a few of the gems we found. Hope I managed to match all the pics correctly! (If not, someone come and yell at me).
JOE K WORRALL
Prints on the table didn’t fully show the scope of Joe’s trade: he’s an accomplished tattoo artist at Heart and Arrow Studio in Shropshire. Make sure to check out his partner Cadi’s ink work too! (Sorry we missed you at the table, Joe).
WILLIAM ANDERSON / PSYCHOSLAUGHTERMAN
Icons galore at Psychoslaughterman’s stall, from Pennywise to Elvira – a wide portfolio inspired by cult films and comic books.
PETER PANAYIS / EVIL EYE ART
Peter is a master illustrator, lending his prowess to many horror legends and classic nightmares. If you’re not satisfied with his stuff on your walls, you can also cuddle amongst it (with his range of cushions) or wear it proudly on a t-shirt.
LUKE FRANCIS / TWISTED ABNORMALITY
With our love of synthwave and retro, Luke Francis’ style caught our eye right away and we made a beeline for his table. Awesome to have a chat, special mention to the art inspired by The Void.
Great to see Paul’s incredible work in person – as a prolific concept artist known for his contribution to various hot properties in the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres. Managed to pick up my own little Pinhead print! (I’ll take really good care of him).
UNDER THE FLOORBOARDS
Mike and Rachel Wood presented a nice array of limited edition art, and I was happy to grab a Dario Argento print by Malleus – special mention to Dark City Gallery who I believe originally supplied it for this event!
We’ll be back shortly with another artist post. This one featuring dead things and also things that look dead!
